Every meeting features two or three prepared speeches by club members. These speeches generally last between five and seven minutes, and they are formally evaluated later in the evening by other club members who share their constructive opinions about the effectiveness of the speeches and offer friendly suggestions for improvements. In this video, Jim evaluates another member’s speech. He talks about the goals of the speech and how good speeches should have a beginning, middle, and end that support a single point. He praises the speech, offers a few suggestions for making it even better, and closes with an invitation to the speaker to challenge herself constantly as her speaking skills improve.
